Strart Choosing One of The Many Natural Remedies Already Sitting in Your Cabinets

Staying well and fighting off illnesses does not have to be expensive. Your house is probably already well stocked with plenty of natural items you can use to help yourself feel better. Many people think that all they need to get better is to go to the store, buy some medication and hooray! You're better in minutes! So much time is wasted trying to decide between all of the over the counter medicines that are available when you could start healing immediately by choosing one of the many natural remedies already sitting in your cabinets.
Water is essential. You already know that you need to drink six to eight glasses of water a day to stay healthy but water can be used for more than simple refreshment. There is more to headache relief than simply taking some aspirin or ibuprofen-water is also a fantastic headache combatant. Many headaches start because of dehydration. Instead of waiting a long time for the drugs to take effect, drinking a glass of water will help you feel better in just a few minutes. You can use water for more than keeping yourself properly hydrated. A natural way to break a fever is to have the person with the fever sit in a hot tub of water for a little while (while keeping a cool compress on his or her head). The heat will relax your muscles and help you to start sweating. Sweating is one of the ways your body regulates its temperature and reduces fevers. Find a good salve recipe. Salves are great for helping to break up congestion whether it is in your chest or in your sinuses. Salves have a long history of success with healing the cold or fighting the flu because they are made of ingredients that have healing properties. Vaporub, while not strictly a wholly natural product, is a salve that does quite a bit to soothe cold and flu sufferers. Salves work best when smeared onto the chest but they can also be dabbed under the nose or rubbed into the soles of your feet.
Eliminate refined sugar. Eating sugar is bad for your immune system and it makes you more susceptible for illnesses. If you want to feel healthier, eating less sugar is the way to go-just ask someone who used to eat sugar but has stopped doing so. While many people opt for sugary drinks when they are sick because they like the taste, staying strong and drinking water instead is better for you. Sugar might taste great but it is terrible for your system and it can hinder all of hard work that your natural health remedies are doing to get you well.
Using natural health to build up your immune system is one of the best ways to prevent illness from taking hold. If you know how to treat your symptoms the right way you can help yourself get better faster and keep yourself from relapse. Don't be afraid to be practical and use what you have on hand instead of stuffing a bunch of chemicals into your body.
