Turmeric & health make a winning combination as the Indian culture has known for thousands of years. This spice has a multitude of purposes from the red dot that you see on a married woman's head to helping treat a whole host of body conditions.
Anti-inflammatory, analgesic & antioxidant
This spice is created by drying and crushing the rhizomes (bulbous roots) of the Curcuma longa plant, which is a member of the same plant family as ginger and so has some similar healing properties to it i.e. analgesic , anti-inflammatory and circulatory prevention.
The beautiful vibrant yellow color that is created from a compound called curcumin is what makes this spice such a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory treatment. In fact it is just as strong as allopathic NSAID's but without any of the nasty side effects.
Turmeric & health go together in many other ways as well e.g. it is a good antiseptic, disinfectant and its anti bacterial properties make it very useful in treating skin conditions, especially painful complaints like boils. It is also good for treating cuts.
Because of its phytochemical properties curcumin, in laboratory tests has shown to be very useful in treating and preventing heart attacks and artieriosclerosis and its strong antioxidant properties have also shown some promising results in treating different types of cancer.
The only setback is that curcumin is not easily absorbed by the body unless it is diluted in something with fat in it. But even small amounts of 3.5g in the blood have shown it to have some disease preventative properties.
Nutraceuticals
Since my friend introduced me to a fantastic company that only manufacture nutraceuticals, do not contain any harmful artificial chemicals, I have now started having the bio active extract of this spice along with over 70 other life enhancing plant nutrients every day. Some of the other ingredients in this blend include reservatrol, milk thistle, ginko biloba, decaffeinated green tea extract and many others.
My energy levels have increased since I started taking them and the aging clock is slowly beginning to turn backwards and I feel great as I have begun to experience how turmeric & health go together.
