Ayurveda Treatment Based on The Three Dosha's

Ayurveda is an ancient medical system said to have originated in India dating back thousands of years and is thought of by many to be the oldest form of health care in the world.
Ayurveda is a holistic medical approach that considers body and mind and the relationship to each other. Ayurvedic practitioners take a thorough personal and medical history to determine your physical and spiritual "type" and prescribe and treat according to each individual patient.
Your dosha, or body type, becomes the basis for a specific Ayurvedic program of diet, stress reduction, exercise, and daily routines.
The principles of Ayurveda believe that we are all comprised of three essential life forces or energies, which Ayurveda refers to as doshas. These three doshas control the activites of the body. Each dosha is made up of two of five basic elements: fire, water, earth, air, and ether (the upper regions of space).
The three doshas are: vata, pitta, and kapha.
The vata dosha combines the elements ether and air and controls movement.
The pitta dosha represents the elements fire and water and controls metabolism
The kapha dosha combines the elements water and earth and controls structure
Ayurvedic medicine believes the following about the three doshas:

Each dosha has a particular relationship to bodily functions and can be out of balance for different reasons.
Each person has a different combination of the three doshas, with one dosha being prominent.
An imbalance of a dosha will produce symptoms that are unique to that dosha. Imbalances may be caused by a person's age, lifestyle, or diet.
The main goal of Ayurvedic practices is to cleanse the body of substances that can cause disease, and helping to reestablish harmony and balance. The Ayurveda philosophy is that rebalancing and reestablishing harmony in the body can be achieved through the use of various techniques.
These techniques may include using Ayurvedic herbs in cooking, teas, oils for massage or for inhaling their vapors. Changing your diet may also be recommended to enhance the effectiveness of treatment. Yoga and special forms of massage may be used as well.
Once you begin to use these principles in your daily activities, you will see positive benefits in every aspect of your life. Ayurveda provides you with new vital energy, heightening your resistance to illness. Ayurveda can help you in rejuvenation and towards leading a healthier life, maintaining the efficiency of mind and body into old age.
