Fertility Drugs

When people have difficulties getting pregnant they often turn to prescribed fertility drugs. While these drugs have assisted many couples with having the baby they have long wanted, many other couples have experience negative side effects from these drugs.

Clomifene citrate (or clomiphene), sold commercially under the names Clomid, Milophene and Serophene, is the most common fertility drug prescribed to women. Clomid is usually taken as a pill. It works by adjusting your hormonal balance and enhancing the likelihood of ovulation.

The side effects of Clomid include stomach pains, vomiting, nausea, headaches, fatigue, breast tenderness and possibly blurred vision. Some women also report experiencing mood swings, irritability and depression. There have been occasional reports of weight gain. Clomid users also have an increased risk for ovarian cysts.

Sometimes Clomid can cause vaginal dryness. This is pretty easy to resolve with the use of a vaginal jelly or lubricant; however, it is important to remember to choose one that is "sperm friendly". While Clomid's success rate is good in the case of poor egg quality, it is important to note that it can also cause multiple birth pregnancies.

Bromocriptine, which is marketed commercially under the name Parlodel, is another drug that you may be prescribed. It works to correct an imbalance in the hormone prolactin. It is available in capsule or tablet form, or as a vaginal suppository.

The drug has possible side effects of upset stomach, dry mouth, or clogged sinuses. Also, you may have headaches or dizziness from low blood pressure. Additionally, you may experience drowsiness or falling asleep. Be mindful of this when taking the drug. Like Clomid, this fertility drug also does not have a high rate of success, however, it may lower prolactin levels, benefiting women with an imbalance of the hormone.

It is clear that it is possible to use fertility drugs to get pregnant, but these artificial substances have numerous side effects as well. If you are experiencing difficulty conceiving, you should consider using a natural whole-body alternative instead of taking these drugs.

The natural, whole-body approach to increasing fertility entails the restoration of hormonal balance. This is done by ridding the body of toxins and boosting the liver's health. The liver is the organ that balances hormones. Cleansing the body will boost the health and efficacy of the liver, and will also boost the functioning power of organs like the colon and kidneys.

Along with body cleansing, you may want to give some herbal remedies a try. "FertilPlus" is an excellent herbal remedy that comes in two formulas - one for women and one for men. "FertilPlus" is made of plant compounds that have been scientifically proven to help increase sperm production and ovulation and to balance hormone levels in men and women.

I hope this article provides you with some information about the safer alternatives to fertility drugs that exist. If you are interested in more information about the natural treatments I wrote about above, please visit http://naturalfertilitydrugs.net/
