Alternative Medicine-How Can Alternative Medicine Help You

Health Concerns-What Are Your Health Questions
As we grow older our thoughts are often preoccupied with health concerns. With a damaged economy drawing dark clouds all around us, and a new health care system that may end up costing much more than we have now--it is a necessity that all of us take a close look at our options.
Will Obamacare been a blessing…or a curse?
Medical and drug costs are high now, but if Obamacare becomes a reality, most experts believe that health care costs will take a strong upward trend. And Medicare is poised to go on the chopping block too.
I have long been a proponent of employing alternative medical tactics. What I mean is that to maintain good health, it is often a good move to allow the body to do what it was created to do--Heal Itself!
We have virtually destroyed our body's ability to heal itself!
We are born with a complex, highly effective immune system, which in itself is capable of PREVENTING many debilitating illnesses--everything from the cold virus to cancer. But through our own negligence we have eroded the ability of our immune system to do its job.
So how did this happen?
Well…it did not happen overnight. Our eating habits are a major contributor to our immune system's destruction. While this is certainly not an intentional act, we tend to take shortcuts when it comes to proper nutrition.
The downward slide began with the Industrial revolution
The Industrial revolution brought with it all sorts of manufacturing processes. Mass production was simplified when electricity became widely available--even to the homes of our ancestors. But it revolutionized the manufacturing process.
This revolution brought with it processed, pre-packaged foods. Canned goods appeared on the shelves of the general stores across this land. And while our great-grandmom still filled mason jars with a variety of foods, the population became ensnared into buying ready-made foods.
Food in a tin-can can be just as healthy as food in a Mason Jar!
True…but food processors discovered that food in tin-cans would KEEP longer if they added preservatives. So all sorts of junk was added to our diets. Preservatives and pesticides became the norm. Our farmers got better crop yields if bug-killing sprays were added to the crops.
And this--as well as the preservatives--continue to be packed into tin-cans and frozen dinners.
Prepackaged and prepared foods are a blessing for some. When women entered the work force, time spent in the kitchen was reduced. TV Dinners became very popular when television sets began to appear in homes all across the nation.

Recent research indicates that ACIDOSIS is the cause of many health problems.
Medical experts and researchers tell us that the human body is alkaline in nature. Alkalinity and acidity are measured on the pH scale. p is scientific shorthand for -log10. H, which is shorthand for Hydrogen ion concentration. The pH scale runs from 0 to 14, and plain water at 20C being pH 7 (neutral).
Lemon juice has a pH of 2.2 (acid) and a substances like Milk of Magnesia (taken for heartburn) are around 10.5 (base) alkalinity.
Medical practitioners and nutritionists are pushing the acid-alkaline diet idea.
Since the body is naturally alkaline--it makes sense to keep it in the high pH range. But today's population seems intent on favoring acidic foods. Here are just a few acid/alkaline food choices:
Acid Foods: Meat (beef, pork, poultry and fish), most fruits (sugar), beans and grains (breads).
Alkaline Foods: Asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, lettuce, onion, sweet potato.
The question now is how to establish a balance. You see if you eat mostly acidic foods, your blood chemistry will be acidic. This excess acid causes multiple problems. Some scholarly research has the health care industry taking a more objective course when it comes to diet.
In fact--your own doctor may have been influenced to see the folly--in some case--of backing away from the myriad drugs available and leaning toward more natural remedies. And our diet is at the root of many of our health concerns.
For more than a year I have been receiving a health-related electronic newsletter that has given me a new insight into repairing the immune system. Some simple lifestyle changes can bring about better overall health--and I'm all for that!
This health publication, the Free Natural Health Newsletter, is available for just the price of your e-mail address.
A recent issue tells the story of one of America's oldest living men, Bernando LaPallo, who is living proof that eating the way nature intended has him rewarded with a long life. LaPallo claims to never having a sick day in his life, and he seems to be more alive at 109 than most individuals are in their golden years.
LaPallo explains that eating primarily raw uncooked foods- mainly greens like broccoli, spinach and collards, has blessed him with astounding longevity.
