Sinus Infection Home Remedy

A sinus infection can quickly come out of no where, put you in huge amounts of pain and in bed for days on high strength anti-biotics. Sinus infection symptoms include fever, chills, pain in the jaw, cheeks, sinuses and forehead, headache, as well as yellow or green mucous, and lots of it. You can go the traditional medical route to get rid of your sinus infection and end up with a weakened immune system from the antibiotics, or you can use a sinus infection home remedy that will quickly alleviate the pain and have your body take care of the infection.
At the first signs of a sinus infection, which is usually the pain in your jaw, cheeks, and sinuses, immediately start taking 1,000 mg. Of vitamin C every hour until bowel tolerance is reached. Drink warm liquids like unsweetened herbal tea, chicken broth, warm lemon water, etc. Rest as much as possible.
One of the most effective sinus infection home remedies is the use of high quality apple cider vinegar. You will need to use a reputable brand like Bragg's that has "the mother" in it. You will mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with sixteen ounces of water. Drink this every hour. If you need to mix a small amount of honey in, feel free. This remedy sounds simplistic, but is extremely powerful for sinus infections.
Another tried and true sinus infection home remedy is the neti pot. You will fill your neti pot with warm water with some salt mixed in, 8 ounces of water, ¼ a teaspoon of salt. You will want the water to be close to your own body temperature. Follow the neti pot instructions to irrigate your sinuses. If you do not have a neti pot, saline nose spray will give you similar results.
One more tool that you can add to your sinus infection arsenal is massage. Use about a tablespoon of olive oil and mix in a drop of essential oil such as tea tree, clove, or lavender. Massage the sinuses starting at either side of the nose using two oiled fingers. Work your way horizontally across your cheek bones, then down along your jawline, then massage down your neck. Repeat this process several times an hour. This will encourage lymphatic drainage.
Using all of these sinus infection home remedies together will quickly have you feeling better once again. This gentle and natural approach will leave the body stronger and more able to fight off the next infection instead of weakened and immune suppressed.
